Nia is a mobile app for a nightly manifestation ritual: you write a short scene of something you want as if it has already happened, and listen to it narrated — by a preset voice or, if you choose, a copy of your own — as you fall asleep. This policy explains what we collect, what happens to the material you bring in, who processes it, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past.
The short version.
Nia keeps what the ritual needs. Your name, your answers, your scenes, affirmations, texts and songs are stored privately with your account, so they follow you to a new phone and so our servers can turn them into audio. If you record your voice, the recording is deleted once your voice has been copied, and we ask our voice provider to delete the copy when you delete your account. We use a few named providers to draft, narrate and sing for you, each only for that job. We do not sell your data or train AI models on it, and nothing you write, record or hear is used for advertising — app events such as "started a trial" are shared with Meta only to measure our own ads.
1. Who we are
Nia is operated by Fluxternal Inc. ("Fluxternal", "we", "us"). We are the data controller for the personal data described here.
Questions, requests, or complaints: hello@fluxternal.com.
2. Who this app is for
Nia is intended for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a minor has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
3. What we collect
3.1 Account data
Email address. Only if you add an email to your account (Nia starts you as a guest). If you use Sign in with Apple or Google, the account identifier and the email address the provider shares with us — with Apple, that can be a private relay address.
Name. The first name you give in onboarding, so your scenes, texts and songs can speak to you. It is sent to DeepSeek when drafting, and sung in your daily song unless you turn "Sing my name" off. If you sign in with Apple or Google and the provider shares your name or profile picture, or you add a name under Personal info, it is stored on your account too.
Age range and gender. The age range and gender you pick in onboarding (gender can be "prefer not to say"). Gender shapes the wording of your drafts and the default singing voice of your song, and is sent to DeepSeek with a draft request; your age range stays in our database.
User IDs. An account id, the date you signed up, and your app preferences (language, theme, time zone and notification settings).
Waitlist email (website only). If you join the launch waitlist on this website, we keep the email address you enter so we can tell you when Nia is available. It is not linked to an app account. Email us and we will remove it.
3.2 What you bring in
Your onboarding answers and settings. What you are calling in (for example love, money or a glow-up) and your answers about it, what tends to get in the way, your commitment, and your bedtime, reminder, frequency, soundscape, song, voice and player settings. They shape your scenes, texts, songs and reminders, and the relevant answers are sent to DeepSeek with a draft request.
Your ritual and songs. What you write and make in Nia: your scenes and their titles, the affirmations in each, your playlists and the nights you completed a session; the people you add for your daily texts (the name you give them, who they are to you, and their tone); and your daily songs (their settings, lyrics and audio). It is stored with your account so it follows you to a new phone and so our servers can turn it into audio. Parts of it are sent to DeepSeek (to draft scenes, lyrics and texts), Fish Audio (to read aloud) and Google Lyria (a song's lyrics, to sing it), as described below.
Your daily texts. The texts "from" the people you added are written by DeepSeek for you, and your replies are stored in the thread. The last few messages of a thread are sent to DeepSeek so the next text follows on. When a text arrives, its notification shows the sender's name and the first message, delivered through Expo and Apple's or Google's push service.
Your voice (optional). If you choose to narrate in your own voice, you read a short statement aloud. Recording it is your consent for us to create a copy of your voice that is used only to read your own scenes back to you; we keep the text of that statement and when you recorded it. The recording is uploaded to private storage and sent to Fish Audio to create the copy (a private voice model), then deleted from our storage once the copy exists (if cloning fails, it stays in private storage until you try again or delete your account). The copy stays with Fish Audio, linked to your account, until you re-record or delete your account. The audio sessions and songs made for you are stored privately with your account and on your phone. Voice data is never used to identify you, never used for anyone else, and never used for advertising.
3.3 Subscription and usage
Subscription data. Whether you are on a free trial, subscribed, or lapsed, when the period ends, and the store transaction and product identifiers passed to us. Trial starts and purchases are also reported to Meta to measure our ads. We never see your payment details — card and billing information is handled entirely by the store.
3.4 Product analytics and diagnostics
Product analytics. Which screens you open, which buttons you tap, and events like “started a trial” — with a device or account id, your device model, OS version and app version. These events go to PostHog, and to Meta to measure our ads. They never include the text of your scenes, affirmations, texts or songs.
Crash reports. Stack traces and the app state around a crash or error.
Diagnostics. Performance measurements such as app start time, device and OS details.
3.5 Device identifiers and push
Device identifiers. A pseudonymous device identifier used by our analytics, and the device's advertising identifier, which the Meta SDK uses to attribute installs to our ads — on iPhone only if you allow tracking when asked. If you allow notifications, the app also registers a push token for your device and stores it with your account, with the device model.
4. What happens when you make a scene, a song or a text
This is the part that matters most, so here it is step by step:
- You tell Nia about the life you're calling in. Your first name, gender and the answers you give in onboarding are saved to your account. When Nia drafts a scene, affirmations, song lyrics or a text, the details it needs go to our server and on to DeepSeek, which returns a draft. You can edit it.
- Your scene is saved to your account in our Supabase database, with your affirmations, playlists and settings. Only your account can read these rows.
- It is turned into a session. A background job sends the scene's text and affirmations to Fish Audio to be read aloud — by a preset narrator, or in your own voice if you recorded one — mixes it with a soundscape and frequency, and stores the finished audio privately with your account. Your phone downloads it so it plays offline, with the screen locked.
- Your daily song. With Nia Plus, once a day DeepSeek writes lyrics from your goal and settings (with your first name, unless you turn "Sing my name" off) and Google Lyria sings them. The song is stored privately with your account.
- Your daily texts. With Nia Plus, once a day DeepSeek writes a text from one of the people you added — using the name, relationship and tone you gave them, your goal and the last few messages of the thread — and we send it to your phone as a notification.
- Optional: your voice. If you record the read-aloud statement, the recording goes to private storage and then to Fish Audio to create a copy of your voice. The recording is deleted from our storage as soon as the copy exists.
DeepSeek. It receives only the text needed for the draft being made — your first name, gender, goal answers and scene, the names and tone of the people who text you and your recent replies to them, or the scene you want rewritten — and returns a draft. It processes these requests under its own API terms.
Fish Audio. It receives the text being read and, for cloning, your voice recording with the statement you read, and processes them under its own terms. Your cloned voice stays with Fish Audio as a private voice model until you re-record it or delete your account, when we ask Fish Audio to delete it.
Google (Lyria, through the Gemini API). It receives the song's title, lyrics (which include your first name only if you leave "Sing my name" on), the vocal you chose and a few fixed style words, and returns the audio, which we store privately with your account. It processes these requests under the Gemini API terms; the audio carries Google's inaudible SynthID watermark.
Meta (Facebook SDK and Pixel). It receives app events (for example app opened, onboarding step reached, trial started) with a device identifier, and on our website page views. It never receives your scenes, texts, songs or voice.
We may change or add providers; this policy will be updated when we do.
Your bedtime reminder is scheduled on your phone, and the home-screen widget and Live Activity read tonight's line from your phone's own storage.
Nothing you write, record or hear is shown to other users: Nia has no feeds, public profiles or sharing.
We do not sell your data and we do not use it to train AI models. The Meta SDK in the app receives app events with a device identifier so we can tell which ads work; it never receives your scenes, texts, songs or voice, and on iPhone it only uses your advertising identifier if you allow tracking.
5. Other people in your scenes and texts
A scene, a goal answer or a daily text can mention people in your life — a name, who they are to you, how they talk. That text is stored with your account and processed as described above, only to make your scenes, songs and texts. The texts are written by AI in their style; they are not from the real person, and Nia never reads your contacts. Please leave out other people's sensitive details, and only record your own voice.
6. Why we are allowed to process it
Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, our legal bases are:
- Performance of a contract — your account, drafting and rendering your scenes, songs and texts, your subscription.
- Consent — your voice recording and voice copy, notifications, and on iPhone tracking for ad measurement. You can withdraw it at any time: email us to delete your voice copy (or delete your account), turn notifications or tracking off in your phone's settings. Withdrawing does not affect processing that already happened.
- Legitimate interests — keeping the service working, preventing abuse, understanding which features are used, and measuring our ads.
- Legal obligation — tax, accounting, and responding to lawful requests.
7. Who processes your data
We use these service providers, each under its own data-processing terms:
| Provider | What it handles |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Sign-in, and the database and private file storage that hold your account, your ritual data, your texts and songs, your session audio, your voice recording until it is cloned, and your subscription status. |
| DeepSeek | Drafts and revises your scenes, affirmations, song lyrics and daily texts from the details you give it. |
| Fish Audio | Reads your scenes and affirmations aloud, and — only if you record your voice — creates and hosts the copy of your voice (a private voice model) that reads them. |
| Google (Lyria, through the Gemini API) | Sings your daily song from its lyrics and the style you picked. |
| Trigger.dev | Runs our background jobs — rendering session audio, cloning voices, making daily songs and scheduling daily texts — which briefly handle the text or recording involved. |
| RevenueCat | Subscription state and entitlements, keyed to your account id. |
| Apple App Store and Google Play Billing | Take the payment. We never receive your card details. |
| PostHog | Product analytics. |
| Sentry | Crash and error reporting. |
| Expo, Apple Push Notification service and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging | Deliver your notifications if you allow them: your daily texts (the sender's name and the first message) and "your song is ready". Your bedtime reminder is scheduled on your phone. |
| Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In | Optional sign-in methods. |
| Meta (Facebook SDK and Pixel) | Measures which of our ads led to an install, a trial or a purchase. On iPhone it only uses your advertising identifier if you allow tracking. |
| Vercel | Hosts this website, including the launch waitlist form. |
We may also disclose data where we are legally required to, or to protect our rights or someone's safety. If Nia is ever sold or merged, your data may transfer with it — you will be told before that changes anything about this policy.
8. International transfers
Our providers operate in China and the United States. That means your data may be processed outside your own country, including in places whose data-protection laws differ from yours. Where required, transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent mechanism.
9. How long we keep it
- Your ritual data, texts, songs, onboarding answers and settings: until you delete them or your account.
- Your voice recording: until your voice has been copied — normally within minutes. The copy at Fish Audio is kept until you re-record or delete your account.
- Session audio and songs: until you delete your account.
- Account data: until you delete your account.
- Subscription records: as long as needed for accounting and tax, which may outlast your account.
- Analytics, ad-measurement events and crash reports: per our providers' retention settings, typically up to 12 months.
- Waitlist emails: until launch messages have been sent, or until you ask us to remove yours.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to complain to your data-protection authority.
Deleting your account is built into the app: any tab → your initial (top right) → You → Delete my account. See the deletion page for exactly what that removes. A deletion cannot be undone.
If you are in California, we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
If you are in Canada, we handle your personal information in line with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Our service providers may process it outside Canada (including in the United States), where it may be accessible to local authorities under local law. Questions about our privacy practices go to our privacy contact at hello@fluxternal.com, and you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
To exercise any right, email hello@fluxternal.com. We answer within 30 days.
11. Security
Traffic between the app and our services is encrypted in transit. Your ritual data is restricted to your account by row-level security in our database, and voice recordings, session audio and songs sit in private storage folders that only your account and our own servers can read. Our servers reach the AI providers with server-side keys; the app never holds them. No system is perfect and we cannot promise absolute security, so we keep the most sensitive thing — your raw voice recording — only as long as it takes to use it.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and tell you in the app before the change takes effect.
